Big Creek Greenway – Big Creek Park entrance, attempt at Beaver Creek Rd. section, then from Haynes Bridge Park to the loop and back

Big Creek Park

Okay, I need to explain this one. I started at the Big Creek Park entrance again, this time with the intention of walking the small section over to Beaver Creek Rd. Park. However, I was disappointed to learn that that section is under construction and inaccessible. I did email the Roswell Parks and Recreation Department asking when it will be open, but I haven’t heard anything back from them yet. So I walked the Big Creek Park section of the Greenway up to the boardwalk, only to find that the boardwalk was, once again, closed for my safety. At that point, I turned around and went back to the car, feeling discouraged.

Haynes Bridge Park

Then I decided to go to the Haynes Bridge entrance and attempt that section of the trail instead! However, once I got to the loop (pictured – I love that loop, by the way) I decided to turn back around and leave for the day. The loop seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so and, besides, I’d already reached my step goal for the day. (That goal is 5,000 steps. I feel like that’s more manageable than the 6,000 my phone defaults to, or the 10,000 I’ve seen recommended…just walk, okay? Any amount is good for you.)

It was on this day that I began to notice the cool artwork on the side of the trail. I also saw a rainbow on the way home. So, all in all, it wasn’t a bust.
