Big Creek Greenway – from Big Creek Park into Alpharetta and back with Noah
8066 steps / ~4 miles
(The day I started tracking my progress)
I guess I waited a few months before getting back on the trail. Which makes sense – there are a lot of nature trails to explore in my area. Lucky me! Anyway.
This time, Noah and I started at Big Creek Park. We walked the Greenway past the boardwalk all the way over to the Roswell-Alpharetta border before turning back! It was so cool to cross over into another city.
It was on this day that I downloaded a map of the Big Creek Greenway* and started mapping my progress. It was also on this day that I publicly announced (via Facebook post) that walking the Big Creek Greenway in its entirety was my New Year’s Resolution for 2025.
Noah’s goal for 2025 was to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and, as of the time I’m writing this, he’s hiked 500 miles! He’s in Virginia! The fact that he’s walked across state lines - multiple times! - is so amazing and I’m incredibly proud of him. And, to think, we were once excited to walk across a city boundary! Haha.
His AT aspirations were actually what inspired me to embark on my own (much shorter) journey: “section hiking” the entire Big Creek Greenway!
*I’ve since learned that the map I downloaded, the one I so meticulously filled in throughout my journey, was, indeed, just the map for the Alpharetta section. Woops.
